Paint matching with Johnny
Wondering if your car will look exactly the same after a collision? It should!
One of the biggest differences between an average repair and a truly invisible repair is paint matching.
At Image Auto Body, every paint repair starts with more than just the factory color code. Sun exposure, age, metallic flake, pearl finishes, and even the angle of the panel can all change how paint appears on a vehicle over time. That’s why our technician Johnny custom adjusts every formula by hand to achieve a factory-level match.
In this behind-the-scenes video, Johnny walks through the professional paint matching process we use every day for collision repairs in Pflugerville, Round Rock, Georgetown, Manor, and North Austin.
The process begins with the original manufacturer paint formula, but that is only the starting point. Johnny carefully modifies toners and mixes the color to match the exact fade, gloss, and metallic depth of the vehicle currently in front of him.
Before any panel is sprayed, we create a spray-out test card and compare the sample under controlled lighting from multiple angles. This allows us to verify the color flop, pearl, and reflection before moving into the final paint booth stage.
From there, the paint is professionally blended into the surrounding panel so the repair transitions naturally into the original finish. This blending process is what prevents obvious color lines and helps the repair disappear completely.
Whether it’s a bumper repair, quarter panel replacement, or full collision restoration, our goal is simple:
the repair should look like it never happened.
